Nominees

Sharkansky is nominating people for some bullshit award that he himself probably can’t actually get excited about. But here are my nominees.

This thread is for readers to nominate the year’s best and worst in local politics. A non-exclusive list of suggested categories, with a few non-exclusive suggested nominees to spark your input –

Awards are fun. I nominate Sharkansky for assfaciest blogger and worst puns.

Best and worst local journalists and editorial writers (Best local editorial writer: Bruce Ramsey? worst — Joni Balter? Ryan Blethen?)

Well the worst journalist is probably Johnathan Martin and worst columnist (although technically not an editorial (I think he means op-ed, because the editorials aren’t signed) columnist) is Bill “the” Virgin. Yes, this was just an excuse to link to myself. As for favorite, I’ll go with Josh Feit.

Best state legislator who won’t be returning to Olympia next session (Toby Nixon? Steve Johnson?)

Well, that covers a lot of ground. Presumably he means who was a legislator last year. But technically he leaves the question open to anybody who’s been a legislator. So Maggie, I guess.

Worst new member of the state legislature?

I’ll have to see how they actually legislate.

Worst candidate who lost his/her race (Kyle Taylor Lucas? Darcy Burner?)

Der! Drunkie McGoatfucker. And really, loser incumbents aren’t worse candidates than people running against incumbents? And the Democrat to do the best ever in the 8th is a bad candidate? Really?

Worst move by Mrs. Gregoire (No decision on the Viaduct? Darcy Burner fundraising dinner at the Governor’s Mansion?)

I guess I’d like her to have been a bit more bold. But let’s see what happens in the next session.

Best move by Mrs. Gregoire (give credit where due)

Gay rights on everything but marriage.

Best/worst Democrat/Republican elected officials?

Best is probably Inslee. And on the state level Murray. Worst is Do Nothing Hastings nationally and who cares the Republicans don’t have any power statewide.

Best/worst members of the Seattle City Council?

I’m not a big fan of Godden, I guess.

Let’s hear your nominations. Use the above categories or suggest your own.
(Stay on topic. Off-topic comments will be mercilessly deleted).

They’ll also be deleted if they mention Preemptive Karma.

Yeah, Inslee is probably the best D from this state. It’s a tie between McMorris and Larsen for the worst.

You read that right, Rick Larsen. He’s worse than Reichert and Hastings because, as a Dem, he shouldn’t be that bad.

Damn, I need to stop posting after drinking beer during MNF. Just correcting what I meant to say would require a rewrite of the entire comment.

I meant Hastings instead of McMorris (he of the fine ethics committee leadership) and I realize that I went from talking about Dems only to all pols without a pause.
