From the always-entertaining Max Redline:
Is That A Light At The End Of The Tunnel
Or an oncoming train? Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 37% of voters say the United States is heading in the right direction.
Still, the majority of voters (57%) believe the nation is heading down the wrong track.
That majority is likely to increase as the administration’s intentions and policies clarify. Opposition is pushing toward two-thirds already.
Fascinating. So what was it in April, 2008?
Americans’ views on the economy and the general state of the country have hit an all-time low in the history of the CBS News/New York Times poll. Eighty-one percent of those polled say the country is on the wrong track, while only 14 percent believe it is heading in the right direction.
So unless there’s a major gap between the views of voters and the views of all Americans, there’s been a 23% increase in those who believe that the country was on the right track from April 2008 to April 2009, yet this is somehow proof that Americans are concerned about Obama.
Someone needs to shop for an Arithmetic for Dummies book.
Also, it’s too bad nobody actually bothers to poll the president’s popularity, otherwise we’d have a better measure of how his policy is changing his popularity than this more nebulous proxy.
I’m just amazed at how blatantly these fools can cherry-pick data!
Sorta confirming the direction-of-country results, though with perhaps a slightly Democratic tilt to counteract Rasmussen’s well-known Republican bias, is the weekly Research 2000 polling done for DailyKos. (Scroll down to the bottom graph and click on the “Direction of Country” tab.)
Between January 8 and April 16, the “right track” percentage has risen from 26% to 44% (up by 18%), while the “wrong track” has gone from 63% to 54% (down by 9%). I find it a little bit interesting that the percentage willing to decide between the choices rose sharply — from 11% undecided to just 2%.
The starting-point of the Research 2000 poll (26% right, 63% wrong) is much closer than that April 2008 poll (14% right, 81% wrong) because the nation had seen Barack Obama nominated, elected, and operating as President-Elect in the interim.
What else have they got?
No matter what poll or survey they commission, no matter what measurement of the population they take; they will always see real faith in Obama’s performance. It’s not absolute, there will always be debate, but the fact remains Obama has the will of the people.
They’re pathetic and insolent. Like a school yard bully, they stand back at a distance, shout an insult, then run and hide. They’re adrift on a sea of mediocrity in a leaky boat.
Obama is besting them at every turn without even trying. He has the country’s best interest at heart so everything he does runs counter to what the GOP stands for.
This has got to be curdling their bloomers to no end.
