Although I’ve never heard a conservative advocate for universal prenatal care, so I’m not sure how “pro-natal” they possibly could be.

And I have to say, I have agonized over whether to have more than one kid. My boyfriend is extremely ambiguous about having kids at all. The strain the human population puts the earth needs to be reduced, not increased. Really, it would be better if our population decreased, and I would rather see that happen due to willful reduction in population, rather than mass disaster, which seems more likely at the rate we’re going.

I really want to have kids, and I’m okay with bringing them into this world, but I am not okay with any greater than replacement level fertility.

Hey… I can’t fault parents for having *a* child. Dropping out ten, though, should be criminal, and deciding not to have children shouldn’t be seen as a flaw.

But then again, I shouldn’t be expecting anything else from the idiots from the Discovery Institute.

You just gotta love the way they Discovery a rationalization for every fact which contradicts their beliefs. Their own data strongly suggests that this year was an anomaly, but so what? Facts exist to support predetermined conclusions. Any fact which shirks this duty gets ‘disappeared’.

Give an example of a deliberately-childless person who has “sneered at breeders”, and then you can begin speculating about that person’s motives. Just because this post mentioned Discovery does not mean the rest of us can simply make up our own facts.

People who don’t want kids because they think they can’t handle it, or can’t have them, that’s another question. I can respect that. But despising those who do … that’s just disguised self-loathing.
